Your home watching the nightly news and the anchor is reporting on a heinous robbery that occuring that afternoon. Of course they have Security Camera footage of the suspected perp. The images come up on the TV and even the perps mother wouldn’t recognize the grainy, shadowy image that the police released. The person who owned that Security Camera System had no idea what he or she was getting. Just because the recorder is called a Digital Video Recorder; does not mean you are recording digital images. The cameras you have connected to that recorder are analogue cameras. So you get digitized analogue images that cannot be digitally enhance. Ergo you can’t truly identify anyone. The best anaolgue camera can’t compete with the newest thing. Internet Protocal Cameras or IP Cameras for short. An IP Camera is a true digital camera. Diigital cameras can be enhance after the fact. The recorded images can be zoomed or blown up to identify objects or people that are recorded. All of us have gotten Red Light Tickets in the mail. That is a digital image; you see your car and your license plate; there is no doubt its your car. You can even playback the video if you are computer literate.

IP Cameras work over the internet. You can have an IP Camera Located in San Francisco and record it on to your computer in New York, or multiple cameras all across the country and record them from your New York Location.
I’ll blog more later for those of you who have to have the newest thing.

Why install a security camera system in your home?

Technology moves so fast; the evolution of security cameras has created a situation for most of us, that each day our images are recorded by a security camera somewhere.  Go to the supermarket, mall, movie theater you name it, your on candid camera. Don’t think of running that light; it will cost you $50.00 and proof of your infraction will arrive shortly in your mailbox.

Why would you want a security camera system for your home?  I guess that is the gist of this blog.  Okay,  getting to the meat of this question; why?  Well say you have an alarm system at your house, you get a call at work  from the central station that someone is breaking into you house.  A simple DVR system wouldl allow you to open your computer screen or even your Iphone and look live at the cameras around your home .  You would see for yourself what really going on.  Is someone breaking into your house or is it the dreaded false alarm.  I presume a false alarm is better than having your house burglarized, but the point being is you see it now;  from wherever you are in the world…amazing when you think about it.  The second scenerio reminds me of many of the movies I’ve seen depicting parents away on vacation and the teenagers left at home to their own devices.  Did I say party or parrrtttyy.  Recently my brother and sister in law spent winter recess with their younger kids in Atlantic City.  She received a call from my cousin wondering why he did not get invited to her All Star Basketball Game party.  She wasn’t giving a party, her 20 year old daughter was.  Now what do you think was on her mind when she came to this conclusion.  An easy conclusion is that a securty camera system would have allow her to see who was in her house at that light bulb moment.

Cost: $1700-2500 depending on the size of your home.  If the situation arizes it may be priceless
